Description

Nash’s photographs from the 1965 civil rights march from Selma to Montgomery, Alabama, embed the viewer in his experience. One can follow him from morning through the night: we see people gather and mill around, then form a crowd as they march; we pass houses and stores and arrive at the state capitol, where Martin Luther King Jr. spoke. Finally, illuminated by his camera flash, we see that participants gathered and rallied into the night.
