Description
Abby Maria Wood was an intimate friend of Emily Dickinson during their school years, but after she joined the church in a heated revival in 1850, the two gradually diverged. Wood married an Amherst-trained minister, Daniel Bliss, in 1855 and embarked on the life of a missionary. On Beirut. her husband helped found the Syrian Protestant College.
