Mary Pat Spaulding was not the demure image of a domestic young woman of the 1959s. As a young art student in the mid-1950s, she and a friend took an qdventurous included mopeds in Paris, breaking a leg playing basketball, and being surrounded by admiring Italian men at an arcade in Siena.
