Vietnam War
by Barr Ashcraft, 1974
Ashcraft, a UMass Amherst alum, worked as a photojournalist in Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos in the early 1970s. As a stringer covering the Vietnam War, he found himself alarmingly close to combat.
The accompanying label reads: "Taking cover. As Viet Cong open up on us from treeline in the distance when we approach the ARVN [Army of the Republic of Vietnam] and the photographer prepare to run for cover."
