Description
Clipping from the University of Massachusetts Amherst newspaper, The Massachusetts Daily Collegian. Written just one year after the ban on travelling to Cuba was lifted from the United States. Johnetta Cole, a professor of Anthropology at UMass set out to take 15 students from Anthro 590H to Cuba for 10 days to further the seminar. Covers the change this could have on the course in the future, and the community process of fundraising to make the trip possible. This trip was the first time that American students had done this type of groundbreaking, ethnographic, hands on work in Cuba since the travel ban.
